These criteria identify schools which are likely to have the highest proportion of young people from groups who are underrepresented in the engineering profession. They were developed to inform how EngineeringUK targets its programmes and which schools should be the focus of its work to reach underrepresented young people. EngineeringUK uses these criteria in targeting promotion and additional support, such as bursaries.
There are many approaches to targeting work to underrepresented young people and this is just one such approach. Others may wish to see the approach that EngineeringUK have taken in this area. EngineeringUK will continue to draw learning from the impact of this approach and share this with our community.
